VERY IMPORTANT TIPS!

1. If you possibly can, go to http://www.networksolutions.com/  yourself and buy your domain name yourself. 

2. If you transfer your site to a new host or whatever --make it clear to your new hosting company and/or your new webmaster you will remain the owner and want to be listed as Registrar Contact and Administrative Contact BOTH. 

3. If you do not have e-mail or computer have your domain registry list your phone and land address. Even send your domain registry a copy of your drivers license, instead of a secure question, so they never give your site to the wrong person. If there is any doubt as to who owns that "www YOU com"  they can request another copy of your license before making any change to your Domain Name account. Relax, domain registries have phones and faxes and would love to talk with you about buying your domain. 

4. GO TO:  http://www.networksolutions.com/  and click on the WHOIS link to make sure you own your own domain, first. THESE ARE PUBLIC RECORDS AND YOU Can GO HERE http://www.networksolutions.com/  and click on the WHOIS link, ENTER YOUR URL (you.com) AND SEE WHO REALLY OWNS YOUR SITE.

5. Notice: webmasters can now pay to make these records private so you can never know unless you TAKE AUTHORITY OVER YOUR DOMAIN NAME (which is your website address) FIRST!!!! Because if you have lost 'your domain name' you have lost your entire website (if you didn't get a copy) because it is connected to the domain name and locked on the hosting company's personal server (fancy computer) and you don't have the passwords to download a copy... DO YOU?

6. If the webmaster/hosting company who bought your domain name for you is honorable they will tell the truth and easily let you be listed as owner... Lines about 'you don't know enough' is crap, the webmaster can be listed as ONLY the technical contact and do all the work from there. You will receive the notices your domain name needs to be renewed, not them.
