Mississippi woke me up at 4:30 am today. Funny how when a person is only thinking of themselves, they think everyone is in their time zone. I knew exactly what her angels said would cure her of her sadness, but I didn't say it. I had just gotten woken up, and a number of other "I am just human excuses!" got in my way. The
biggest? I felt it would hurt her. She wanted complicated spiritual answers and her answer was simple. "You will be very happy if you just take back all the presents you bought this weekend and get your money
back in the bank."
Why do so many of us hurt ourselves in this way. We buy the presents before we pay the bills. We have to give everyone the best we can get and we have to give it to everyone we know. We are not really giving in the true sense of the word. We are taking an action because we want a reaction. We want to be appreciated, respected, remembered and most of all loved. We will run our credit cards up to the limit to just get through this emotional gift-giving time and suffer the years ahead while our gift is re-gifted and those friends move on. Or our loving families drag out and dust off that old thing again for our visit.
I want to give you the best gift I can imagine for you this year, the freedom to not bring any gifts. To be perfect just alone, by yourself,
bringing the gift of you. You with your bills paid and your belly thanksgiving full. You with something glowing in your heart. A love of true self, a gift of peace with not even a thought of shame,
No Shame!...because you spent it all on what is truly important.
If you are in debt, you buy that. If your family needs something, you buy that. If your neighbor needs something, you buy that, if you can. If you have more, the person sitting next to you,
that stranger was put there by God for you to help! Just hand them the cash, even if you 'think' ...well, you know how you are always thinking.
If you have two houses give one to someone who does not, the majority of America's homeless are Veterans of our
Wars. Just go downtown ask a homeless man if he served and give him your second house. Support our troops.
If you are really wealthy please become a lobbyist and buy this poor earth some peace. Pay everybody off, give all the people the
money, power and land they want, any way they want it. Make everyone kings with lots of
commoners and material possessions to boss around and control. Fill 'um all up. Convince them they have nothing to fear, because
each and everyone on earth has what they want and they don't want any more.
And if your riches are in Heaven, please teach the true history of us, that the
Muslims and Christians are both from the same father and the sons have been fighting about who is legitimate ever since. That we have all been taught not to kill and we need to give ourselves that gift of life. Believe it, it is a commandment in both religions. (Bush really hasn't killed anyone, Cheney either,
though he tried! The 'boss' always squeaks thru, don't they? Even King James
had to re-write his biblical version to get into heaven.)
The freedom to not be afraid, to trust and fall back onto the wings of our own angels. Each of us, so different, so special, so in need of giving to ourselves what we most need this holiday season. Ourselves, true to our very souls, because war is not and never will be peace or bring peace.
Actually learning; how to turn the other cheek. Your stranger is upset for a reason, do you care? Or do you still want to fight?
(Learn to fight your own emotion, anger, evil.) Being true to your very soul, what a gift.
You are the only one who knows your peace. No shame in arranging it for yourself.
This giving thing has gotten out-of-hand!
A corporate, shop china (Wal-Mart) cause you cannot afford more but you
have to have it... For Some Reason?
AND while you weren't looking, this Thanksgiving week; 1. Cheney went to
Jordan and your oil went up again; 2. The Supreme Court rewarded Tobacco
BIG! --after years of litigations the little folks lose, finally and now
forever; 3. LADIES step-up, you are next! Equal-pay, abortion rights and
the vote, that's really all we have to lose. It's all they ever gave us
and gees' we have only had the vote what not even 100 years, wait till
some 'supreme' mind 'registers' that more women vote than men!; 4. Vioxx
won big and each injured person gets to sue all on his own, no class
actions; 5. The democrats' now are backing off getting rid of ear-marks;
6. Cause the lobbyists all went democratic this week and are giving them
the (promise) gift of re-election. 7. (I hope the democrats learned their
lessons, for auntie faith to threaten to vote republican for the first
time in her life if the democrats' turn rats, is absolutely
revolutionary!)
Get a Good-Grip-- give a bit of peace to yourself this year.
Then you can lean over and after you kiss your Mother you can tell her that you are giving her the best gift you could
this year. That she doesn't need to worry about you anymore, your bills are paid off. That the homeless will not bother her anymore, you gave them homes to live in. That the terrorists don't want to attack us anymore, you gave them 'heavens' on
earth, complete with virgins and picked that damn mote out of your own eye for once.
Christ has his virgins. Why shouldn't you? That all
the fighting is over because you don't want anyone else to die on your
watch and you put a stop to it. That Mom doesn't need to worry about her social security, you took our government
back and stopped the selling of America. That you finally heard that
famous Dolly Parton quote, "Get down off that cross, somebody needs
the wood!"
You'll get to say, "I love you Mom, I want you to have...Peace on
Earth and Goodwill to Men! And I promise to work harder on the women part!
And your own sadness is so small by
now, you hardly care a bit and can't wait to get out there and give
something else away... Yourself.
I want to give you the
best gift I can imagine for you this year, the freedom to not bring any
gifts. To be perfect just alone, by yourself, bringing the gift of
you. You with your bills paid and your belly thanksgiving full. You with
something glowing in your heart. A love of true self, a gift of peace with
not even a thought of shame, No Shame!...because you spent it all on
what is truly important.
